Breeze Airways Baggage Rules
Breeze bundles the overhead bag into its fare tiers rather than selling it as a bolt-on. That makes the baggage question a fare question, decided at booking.
We have not tested this gear. Every figure here is compiled from published manufacturer specifications and published airline policies, and the arithmetic is public so you can check it. This page contains affiliate links — see the affiliate disclosure.
Breeze publishes 22 × 14 × 9 in for the carry-on with a 35 lb cap, and 17 × 13 × 8 in for the personal item. The difference from other low-cost carriers: the overhead bag is bundled into the higher fare tiers rather than sold as a bolt-on. The personal item is included on every fare.

The carry-on box is the US standard, which is unusual among low-cost carriers — Frontier and Sun Country both publish considerably larger boxes. Breeze does not use size as the differentiator; it uses the fare bundle.
Bundled, not bolted on
Most carriers that charge for the overhead bag sell it as a separate line item you add at checkout. Breeze publishes it as part of the higher fare tiers, with the option to buy it separately.
The practical difference is where the decision happens. A bolt-on fee is a decision you can defer — and frequently defer until the gate, where it costs most. A bundle is a decision you make when you choose the fare, before you have committed to anything.
- You are comparing fares, not fees. The right comparison is the total of the cheapest fare plus a separately-bought bag against the bundled fare — and the bundle frequently wins once a seat assignment is in it too.
- There is no gate-price trap if you sorted it at booking, which is the main way baggage costs balloon on unbundled carriers.
- The personal item is never in question. It is on every fare, including the cheapest.

35 pounds, and why it matters on a paid bag
Breeze is one of four US carriers in our table publishing a cabin weight limit. 35 lb is generous next to Hawaiian’s 25 and restrictive next to the seven carriers publishing nothing.

35 lb is loose enough that most reasonable packing clears it. It is tight enough that a heavy case plus a full week of clothes will not. Weighing it at home costs about $11.
The personal item
At 17 × 13 × 8 in — 1,768 cubic inches — Breeze publishes the same under-seat box as JetBlue. It is larger than United’s 1,530 and smaller than American’s 2,016, and it is included on every fare.
On the cheapest Breeze fare that box is your entire cabin allowance, which puts it in the same category as the other paid-bin carriers: the free bag is the one worth sizing for. Bags built for that box.

- Decide the bag at booking, with the fare. That is how Breeze structures it, and it is the cheapest moment to decide.

- Keep the empty weight under about 6 lb if you intend to use the full 35 lb for a week’s packing.
