The Best Travel Organizers
Every organizer is fabric you carry so that other fabric is findable. Add four of them up and you have spent a pound and a half of allowance on tidiness.
We have not tested this gear. Every figure here is compiled from published manufacturer specifications and published airline policies, and the arithmetic is public so you can check it. This page contains affiliate links — see the affiliate disclosure.
Judge an organizer on weight per liter of what it holds, because that is what it costs you. The spread is enormous: 0.018 lb/L for a Peak Design cube against 0.6 lb/L for a Peak Design tech pouch — a 33-fold difference from the same manufacturer, for containers doing the same conceptual job.

Organizers are overhead, and that is the right frame
A cube holds nothing you use. Neither does a wash pouch or a cable pouch. They exist so the things you do use are findable, which is a real benefit — and their entire weight is a cost paid against a fixed baggage allowance.
Almost nobody adds it up. A cube set, a toiletry bag and a cable pouch is three purchases that feel weightless individually and are not:
| A typical organizing kit | Published weight |
|---|---|
| Eagle Creek Pack-It Reveal three-piece cube set | 0.51 lb |
| BAGSMART Blast hanging toiletry bag | 0.66 lb |
| BAGSMART electronics organizer | 0.24 lb |
| Total | 1.41 lb |
That is 5.6% of Hawaiian’s published 25 lb carry-on cap, and 6.4% of Ryanair’s 10 kg, spent entirely on organization. Which carriers actually weigh.
Weight per liter is the honest metric
| Organizer | Weight | Capacity | lb per liter | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peak Design Packing Cube (Medium) | 0.32 lb | 18 L | 0.018 | Lifetime |
| Peak Design Packing Cube (Small) | 0.25 lb | 9 L | 0.028 | Lifetime |
| Eagle Creek Pack-It Reveal Set | 0.51 lb | 11 L | 0.046 | Lifetime |
| BAGSMART Blast Toiletry Bag | 0.66 lb | 4.5 L | 0.147 | None published |
| Peak Design Small Wash Pouch | 0.39 lb | 1 L | 0.390 | Lifetime |
| Peak Design Tech Pouch | 1.2 lb | 2 L | 0.600 | Lifetime |
| BAGSMART Electronics Organizer | 0.24 lb | Not published | Cannot compute | None published |
The pattern is consistent and worth internalizing: the bigger the container, the better the ratio. A cube spreads its walls across eighteen liters; a wash pouch spreads the same idea across one. That is not a design failure — a 1 L pouch needs a zip and a base whatever it holds — but it is why small pouches are the expensive part of an organizing kit and cubes are the cheap part.
Four of these carry a lifetime warranty
This is the surprise in the category. Organizers are treated as disposable, and yet Peak Design and Eagle Creek both publish lifetime terms on fabric pouches — the same commitment they make on a $300 backpack.
The two BAGSMART products publish no warranty term at all. That is not damning at their price, but on a site that weights warranty at 20% it drops an axis, and the score is computed from what remains.
What you actually need, in order
- One cube, 15–18 L. The best ratio here at 0.018 lb/L, and it does the entire clothing job in a 40 L bag with one set of walls rather than four. Why the letters on cubes mean nothing.
- One liquids bag. Non-negotiable if you fly carry-on, because it has to come out at the checkpoint. Buy the small one — the TSA 3-1-1 limit caps what you can carry anyway. The toiletry comparison.
- One cable pouch. Not for tidiness — because it is the object that keeps every battery in one place you can pull out of a bag being gate-checked. Batteries may not fly in the hold.
- Nothing else. Shoe bags, laundry bags and dedicated underwear pouches are each a few ounces of walls for a job a plastic bag does at zero weight.
The recommendation
- Best single buy → Peak Design Packing Cube (Medium). 18 L at 0.32 lb, lifetime warranty, and it replaces a whole set.
- Best set → Eagle Creek Pack-It Reveal three-piece, at 0.51 lb for 11 L and a lifetime warranty, if you want clothes separated by category.
- Best cable pouch → BAGSMART electronics organizer at 0.24 lb and 1.4 in deep — flat enough to slide against a back panel.
- Best toiletry bag if weight rules → Peak Design Small Wash Pouch at 0.39 lb, and accept that it holds 1 L.
- Skip → the Peak Design Tech Pouch unless you carry a camera kit. 1.2 lb for 2 L is the worst ratio on this page by a distance.
Every pick, with the working
Each entry below shows the published inputs, the four axis scores they produce, and what you give up. The order is the computed order, not a commercial one.
1 · A single cube doing the whole job in a 40 L bag
Peak Design Packing Cube (Medium)
18 L in one cube for 5.1 oz, with a divider that separates worn clothes from clean — the only cube here that solves the second half of a trip.
- Published size

- Weight per liter

Warranty Peak Design lifetime guarantee
Fits 11 of 11 US carriers: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, F9, G4, HA, MX, SY. See the limits.
What it does well
- 18 L in 5.1 oz is 0.018 lb per liter, the best carry efficiency in the packing category
- Halves in depth from 6.7 in to 3.1 in as it empties
- Dual compartments keep clean and dirty apart without a second bag
What you give up
- $39.95 for one cube against $59 for a three-cube Eagle Creek set
- 12.6 in square footprint wastes corners in a 14 in wide case
- Compression here reduces the cube, not the clothes inside it
The arithmetic behind the score
- Value 9.5/10 — $39.95 ÷ 20 yr = $2.00/yr; $39.95 ÷ 18 L = $2.22/L
- Airline-fit breadth 10.0/10 — Fits the published carry-on limit at 11 of 11 US carriers: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, F9, G4, HA, MX, SY
- Carry efficiency 10.0/10 — 0.32 lb ÷ 18 L = 0.018 lb/L
- Warranty & support 8.0/10 — no stated end date (6 of 6); repair published (+2); airline damage not covered (+0)

Specs: Peak Design published specifications and price, compiled 3 September 2026. Published compressed at 12.6 × 12.6 × 3.1 in and expanded at 12.6 × 12.6 × 6.7 in. The expanded figure is used here.
2 · Anyone who wants cubes once and never again
Eagle Creek Pack-It Reveal Packing Cube Set (XS/S/M)
11 L of organization for 8.2 oz of added weight, under a warranty with no end date — the cleanest arithmetic in the packing category.

What it does well
- Published weights of 45.4 g, 70.9 g and 113.4 g total 229.7 g — 8.1 oz for the set
- Lifetime warranty at $2.95 per covered year
- Mesh fronts mean you can see what is in a cube without opening it
What you give up
- $59 published is four to six times what an unbranded six-piece set lists at
- Organizing cubes, not compression cubes — they will not shrink anything
- 11 L across three cubes fills a fraction of a 40 L bag
The arithmetic behind the score
- Value 7.4/10 — $59 ÷ 20 yr = $2.95/yr; $59 ÷ 11 L = $5.36/L
- Airline-fit breadth not scored — No published dimensions to check against carrier limits.
- Carry efficiency 10.0/10 — 0.51 lb ÷ 11 L = 0.046 lb/L

3 · One pouch holding every cable, adapter and battery you travel with
Peak Design Tech Pouch
Skip this one. Skip it in an organizing kit. At a published 1.2 lb for 2 L it is the worst weight-per-liter figure of any container on this site — heavier than a three-piece cube set holding five times the volume. Buy it because you carry a camera kit, not because you want your cables tidy.
Fifteen published interior pockets in 2 L, under the only lifetime warranty in the organizer category — and 1.2 lb, which is heavy for what it is.

Fits 11 of 11 US carriers: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, F9, G4, HA, MX, SY. See the limits.
What it does well
- 15 interior pockets published, with an origami layout that opens flat
- Lifetime warranty — nothing else in this category publishes one
- Cable pass-through lets you charge without opening the pouch
What you give up
- 1.2 lb published is heavier than some packing cube sets that hold ten times the volume
- 2 L is small if you travel with a laptop charger and a camera battery kit
- No firm published price, so cost per covered year cannot be computed
The arithmetic behind the score
- Value not scored — No manufacturer-published price, so this axis is not scored.
- Airline-fit breadth 10.0/10 — Fits the published carry-on limit at 11 of 11 US carriers: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, F9, G4, HA, MX, SY

4 · Carry-on-only travel with a minimal routine
Peak Design Small Wash Pouch (1L)
1 L is almost exactly the quart the TSA allows, which makes this the only toiletry bag here sized to the actual legal constraint rather than to a shelf.

Warranty Peak Design lifetime product warranty
Fits 11 of 11 US carriers: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, F9, G4, HA, MX, SY. See the limits.
What it does well
- 1 L published capacity is within 5% of the 0.95 L quart limit
- 6.2 oz, the lightest published weight in this category
- Same lifetime warranty as the larger pouch
What you give up
- $49.95 for 1 L is the highest cost per liter on this site
- Too small for a full skincare routine or a shared bag
- No clear pouch, so the liquids still come out loose at a checkpoint
The arithmetic behind the score
- Value 5.0/10 — $49.95 ÷ 20 yr = $2.50/yr; $49.95 ÷ 1 L = $49.95/L
- Airline-fit breadth 10.0/10 — Fits the published carry-on limit at 11 of 11 US carriers: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, F9, G4, HA, MX, SY

5 · Carry-on-only travel inside the TSA 3-1-1 limit
BAGSMART Blast 4.5L Hanging Toiletry Bag
4.5 L in a 10.6 oz bag that hangs — the smallest published toiletry volume here, which is the right size when the liquids rule caps you at a quart anyway.
- Published size
- 10.24 × 5.9 × 4.72 in

Warranty No warranty term published
Fits 11 of 11 US carriers: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, F9, G4, HA, MX, SY. See the limits.
What it does well
- 4.5 L published capacity is honest about how little liquid you can legally carry
- 10.6 oz published weight
- Hanging hook, which is the only thing that works in a hotel bathroom with no counter
What you give up
- No warranty term published
- 4.5 L is too small if you travel with a full skincare routine
- No separate quart bag included for the security tray
The arithmetic behind the score
- Value not scored — No manufacturer-published price, so this axis is not scored.
- Airline-fit breadth 10.0/10 — Fits the published carry-on limit at 11 of 11 US carriers: AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, F9, G4, HA, MX, SY

What it does well
- 0.24 lb published — the lightest organizer we have compiled
- 1.4 in deep, so it lies flat rather than occupying a corner
- Elastic loops in two sizes, which is the layout that keeps cables from tangling
What you give up

- Flat layout means nothing thicker than a small plug fits well
