The Best Travel Wallet
The job is holding a passport and a boarding pass in one hand at a desk. Three ways to do it, separated by four ounces and about two inches of pocket.
We have not tested this gear. Every figure here is compiled from published manufacturer specifications and published airline policies, and the arithmetic is public so you can check it. This page contains affiliate links — see the affiliate disclosure.
All three publish the same 3-year warranty, so the decision is size and weight. Passport Cover at 0.172 lb for two passports; Travel Wallet at 0.174 lb for the paperwork too; Travel Folio at 0.37 lb when the phone goes in as well. None publishes a price on the manufacturer’s own store.

What a travel wallet is actually for
Not security. Not capacity. The job is holding a passport, a boarding pass and a card in one hand, at a desk, while the other hand is holding a bag — and being able to put all of it away in one movement rather than four.
Judged that way, most everyday wallets fail for a simple structural reason: they are sized for cards, and a passport is 5 × 3.5 in. Anything that holds a passport is a bigger object than the wallet you carry at home, and that is the trade the whole category is built around.
The three, and who each one is for

Notice that the Passport Cover and the Travel Wallet weigh essentially the same — 0.002 lb apart — and the Travel Wallet is actually thinner, at 0.6 in against 0.75. It holds more, in less depth, for no meaningful weight. That is an unusually clean win and it is why it leads this page.
The Folio is a different object. It doubles the weight to add the phone, and 0.8 in thick is a coat pocket rather than a trouser pocket. Whether that is a feature depends entirely on whether you want your phone in your wallet.
RFID blocking, honestly
Two of these publish RFID protection and it is worth being precise about what that does.
- What it does: blocks the radio frequency used by contactless cards and the chip in an e-passport, so neither can be read while it is inside the wallet.
- What it does not do: protect you from any of the ways card fraud actually happens. Data breaches, skimmers on physical readers, phishing and card-not-present fraud are the overwhelming majority of it, and none involves reading a card through fabric.
- Where it genuinely matters: e-passports. A passport chip carries your identity data, and there is a reasonable argument for not broadcasting it. It is a privacy feature more than an anti-fraud one.
So: nice to have, not a reason to choose one wallet over another, and definitely not worth a premium on its own. It is included on two of these three anyway.
Three years, on all three
Every product here publishes the same three-year warranty covering material and workmanship defects. That is longer than most leather goods and much shorter than the terms this site sees on luggage, where ten years is standard and lifetime is common.
Since none of the three publishes a price on the manufacturer’s own store, cost per covered year cannot be computed for any of them, and the Value axis is dropped from all three scores rather than filled with a reseller’s number. Why we do that.
What to actually keep in it
- Passport, and the second one if you hold two.
- One card, plus a backup kept somewhere else entirely. Both cards in the same wallet defeats the purpose of a backup.
- Some local cash — enough for a taxi and a coffee, not a float.
- A pen, if the wallet takes one. Landing cards still exist, and a pen at 35,000 feet is a small triumph.
- Not your driving license, insurance card, loyalty cards or receipts. A travel wallet is not your everyday wallet, and the whole point is that it holds few enough things that you know instantly if one is missing.

Skip this one. Skip it if pocket size is a constraint. At a published 0.37 lb it is more than twice the weight of the Travel Wallet and 0.8 in thick — it is a folio, and it behaves like one. It is the right buy if you want a phone, passport and cards in a single closing object, and the wrong one if you wanted a wallet.
