The Best Travel Power Bank
Airlines cap batteries in watt-hours. Almost every listing advertises milliamp-hours. Those are different units, and only one of them is in the rule.
We have not tested this gear. Every figure here is compiled from published manufacturer specifications and published airline policies, and the arithmetic is public so you can check it. This page contains affiliate links — see the affiliate disclosure.
The number that matters is watt-hours, and the threshold is 100 Wh. Under it, a power bank flies in your carry-on with no approval needed. A typical 10,000 mAh bank is around 36–37 Wh — barely a third of the limit. Both banks here are well inside it, and both must travel in the cabin rather than a checked bag.

Milliamp-hours are not watt-hours
Every power bank on the market advertises milliamp-hours, and no airline rule is written in them. The conversion is simple and nobody does it for you:
The reason a reputable manufacturer prints the Wh figure on the case is that a gate agent may ask to see it. If a bank does not display one, you have no way to prove it is compliant, and that is a genuine reason to prefer a brand that publishes.

The trade here is unusually clean. Anker publishes everything and warrants it for eighteen months. INIU warrants it for three years and publishes almost nothing. Since the dominant failure mode of a power bank is the cell degrading over time rather than a sudden defect, a longer warranty is worth real money — but we cannot score a product on numbers it does not publish, and we are not going to estimate them.
What capacity you actually need
- 5,000 mAh (~18 Wh) — one phone charge. Genuinely pocketable, and enough for a delayed domestic flight.
- 10,000 mAh (~36 Wh) — two phone charges, or a phone and a pair of headphones. This is the sweet spot for carry-on travel and it is what both banks here are.
- 20,000 mAh (~73 Wh) — four phone charges or one partial laptop charge. Twice the weight, still legal without approval, and more than most people use on a single trip.
- Over 27,000 mAh (~99 Wh) — you are at the threshold. Check the printed Wh figure before you fly and expect to be asked.
Output matters as much as capacity
A bank with a big cell and a slow output is a bank that takes four hours to fill your phone. The figure to look for is the USB-C Power Delivery output in watts: Anker publishes a PD output up to 15 V on the Redux, and INIU publishes 15 W on the B41.
Neither will charge a laptop meaningfully. That is not a criticism of either — it is what the whole compact class does, and it is the same ceiling that applies to compact universal travel adapters, which publish around 30 W shared across six ports.

- Buy on published numbers → Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux. 36.3 Wh printed on the case, 6.8 oz, and a full dimensional set, which is the profile of a product that will not cause an argument at a gate.
- Buy on warranty → INIU B41, at three years against Anker’s eighteen months, if you can live with a spec sheet that omits the weight.

INIU publishes the best warranty in the category at three years and then publishes no weight and no full dimensions, so two of our four axes cannot be scored at all. For a product whose entire job is to be small and light, declining to say how small and how light is the wrong omission.
Twice the warranty of anything else in this category at roughly the same capacity — three years against Anker's eighteen months, on a product whose failure mode is the battery degrading.
